Jekyll writes in her normal forthright style about 37 of her favourite gardens. Gardens,include Levens, Great Tangley, Crathes, Hardwick, Montacute, Ramscliffe, Berkeley CastleKellie, Penshurst, Cleeve Pror, Brickwall, Compton Wynyates These are supplemented by 50 superb, beautiful colour plates taken from drawings by George S Elgood. See photographs for examples. This is one of the truly great books of the period and is thoroughly recommended. CONDITION: The contents are in excellent clean condition with only occasional very light foxing mainly confined to the title page and the cover pages of the plates. See photographs. Plates and main text pages are generally very clean and bright. See photographs. Original free end papers in excellent condition, with one neat inscription in red, dated 1933, April 23. Original blue publisher's cloth is a little worn and faded ad has some edge wear. Some bumping to head and foot of spine - please refer to photographs for full information.
