Description / Information:
This is good example of the absolute heyday of Hornby Trains and includes the beautiful 2 page double spread coloured pictures of the newly introduced Princess Elizabeth locomotive plus Eton, Royal Scott and Golden Arrow. 58 pages code 7/837/117/U.K. The internal coloured section on Hornby O gauge (pages 13 to 44) are in excellent clean, bright condition. In fact the double page on the Princess elizabeth is worthy of framing! The only internal significant defects are the top left of page 17 which had a bit cut out plus four neat annotations on page31. This has been professionally repaired with quality matching coloured copy insert. Front of page one is a little dirty. Small tape repair to top inner margin page3/53 across join at spine. Small adherence top edge page 38/39 The article in the front section includes delivery of goods with some superb b/w pictures including a transformer load, milk train with a road - rail tanker, Paddington Goods Depot at work, army tank, girder load on special trolley wagon, out of gauge ships rudder and what must be a unique photo of a series of giant buoys on a series of crocodile wagons snaking into the distance. Page 12 has two good pictures opf the Coronation Sco class locomotives. The coloured pages of coaches and rollong stock are all lovely, clean and bright. The coloured covers show Castle Class emerging from tunnel on Devon coast hauling the "Cornish Riviera Limited" The rear shows three Meccano Magazines. The covers are overall good condition with split down spine, a number of closed edge tears (repaired) plus a very small nick out of the bottom of the rear and a corner nick bottom right front.. There is a small name top right front and three neat signatures (all the same!) on the rear. The verso of the front cover (facing page one)is a bit dirty. Rusty staples. 4 neat crosse on page 31 where a previuos ownr has put crosses against locos9, 10, 11 and 14. 58 pages. Whilst not in top condition overall this is still a very nice item at this price. Sunject to the specific defects listed the condition is very good. The Pricess Elizabeth pages are really clean and bright.
