Jekyll writing about her favourite gardens. One of the great garden masterpieces of the early 20th century. The atmospheric paintings of George Elgood with the crisp narrative of Gertrude Jekyll. First published in 1906, this is the last edition of 1933. The boards and the spine are in ¾ Moroccan leather and are in fantastic condition with bright gold lettering on the spine. Pages up A small amount of marking at the bottom of the first few pages but this does not detract from the attractions of the book. Otherwise in superb condition inside with lovely illustrations. This copy has been bound at some later date in ¾ leather. This book was originally published in blue cloth. Please note that any pink tinges to the photos of plates are a result of the white balance in the camera being incorrectly set for outdoor light. In the reality the pages are not pink!! This is a very heavy book (packed weight 3.5 Kg)and is expensive to send overseas. We can send to the US by Parcels2go (part of DHL) for around 45 GB Pounds and this is a fast service but the maximum insurance cover is 75 GB Pounds. To obtain freight method with full insurance (essential for purchases through abe)would be more expensive (57 Gb Pounds with full insurance cover). DHL track the parcels all the way so the risk of loss is small. We can only reimburse the insured value in the event of loss. The marking is a light staining at the bottom of the first few pages. On the title and preface pages it is hardly discernable and is well below the text. The half title and the cover sheet to the frontis is a little more visible but no way effects the text and in overall terms does not detract from the enjoyment of this book which is otherwise in superb order. This is a very good price in relation to the book condition and for this reason is nett to all. THIS BOOK IS SOLD
