Description / Information:
Best value copy in excellent order in very good contemporary/near contemporary figured full calf binding. First edition of this early work 14 page preface, title page + 100 pages bright and clean with crisp corners. Title vignette of runic characters. The binding is tight and gold decoration on the spine and the boards are figured calf. The binding could be contemporary and in any event is unlikely to be any later than about 1820. A substantial part of the gold decoration to the edges of the boards remains. The boards themselves are plain. All in all a brilliant example of this rare book. It includes - The Incantation of Hervor, The Dying Ode of Regner Lodbrog, the Ransome of Egill the Scald, The funeral song of Hacon and the Complaint of Harold.
