Description / Information:
In very good condition overall. The Citizen's Atlas was intended to be a reference work for the library, resulting from the Bartholomew?s' belief that 'a good Atlas is an absolute necessity to every intelligent man or woman', which they claimed in an advertisement for the new enlarged edition of 1912. The Bartholomew?s had a reputation for accuracy and their atlases were popular, although reading J.G. Bartholomew's introduction to the mapping of the world among the preliminaries of this atlas one can see that one of his major pre-occupations was with how much of the world remained unexplored and unsurveyed. Inside is in very good condition with minimal foxing to the first few pages. Impressive frontispiece. Very good boards with bright gold. Corners slightly bumped. Spine a little duller. Buying more than one book will save on postage costs. We have split our books into 70 + categories.
