Packed weight = 02.40kg. Please do not order from abe before contacting us as this book is well beyond the 1 kg for the standard abe charge. Also it must be insured due to the high value. It is beyond the 2kg weight limit acceptable to the Canadian post office so please would Canadian customers refrain from ordering. A rare old volume on the founder of the Pure Land School in Japan. The book has decorated endpapers without inscriptions followed by a plain page , a lovely coloured foldout plate follows and then the title page dated 1925. The verso says copyright 1925 and then the next page says "In commemoration of the 750th anniversary of the founding of the Jodo Sect. Includes an introduction and notes, along with extensive selections from the writings of Honen. The chapter headings include; 'Honen - Founder of the Jodo Sect,' 'Honen's Occult Powers,' 'Honen's Lay Followers,' 'Honen's Great Literary Works,' and more. Assumed to be a first edition as it is dated 1925 and the copyright date is also given as 1925. In very good condition overall. Inside is generally in excellent clean condition with very little foxing etc. Large fold out coloured frontispiece in very excellent condition - very light foxing limited to the very edges and not on the coloured image itself. Also includes a 4 page errata slip. Foldout plates in excellent crisp condition. Boards are in generally good, clean condition with very little marking etc. See photograph available to abe customers on request. Buying more than one book will save on postage costs. We have split our books into 70 + categories. One potential customer asked if the book was numbered. There is no indication that this book was issued as a limited edition with individual numbering.
