In good to very good condition overall. Considering its age, the contents are in mostly v\g clean condition. This volume has numerous articles and illustrations including Ericssons Caloric-Ship, The Calcutta steamer in a hurricane, marriages at the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, the construction of the Crystal Palace in New York, launch of the Iron steam ship Ataro and the opening of the New Portland-Street Suspension Bridge in Glasgow. As ever, the illustrations are of a very high standard. Fold out plate missing. Original cloth boards in good but marked condition. Leather spine a little worn and faded but gold lettering and decoration still visible - some tears to head and foot of spine and coming apart from rest of book.
