This description is to be read in conjunction with these photographs. This is the complete THREE volume set. This superb set captures the grand era of English houses in the early years of the 20th century with high quality black and white photographs. A handsomely bound classic work and one of the best records of English Country interior decoration and adornments of some of the most notable houses in England. The old order was still in place pre first world war whilst photographic techniques have become more advanced and capable of taking fine shots od this period. The format: taking a typical entry chosen at random - Dorefold Hall Cheshire comprises 11 pages with pictures of the North Front, the West wing and forecourt a view from the front door steps towards the garden, the front door; the south side including formal garden; gatway; the great drawing room; King James' room; Doorway and panelling fo the King's room; the library; a section of the staircase. Internals of all volumes excellent and generally crisp clean and bright. Matching blue bindings with elaborate gold stamped decoration. Plain endpapers to all volumes with some browning. All page edges gilt. Volume 1 is the 3rd edition dated 1909. Volume 2 is the 2nd Edition of 1908. Volume 3 (rare) is dated 1909. The letterpress edited and an introduction written by H Averley Tipping. These books are very heavy and weigh 14kg. Please enquire for postage cost. Please note this is beyond some postal weight limits and will have to be sent by datapost for people purchasing outside the UK. No stamps or markings. The apparent minor flaw of the photograph on pp 143 of Castle Ashby (Vol 1) is an error in the photography not the book!
