THIS BOOK IS SOLDBound double special issue volume of Cassier's Magazine (526 pages). VERY good value. November 1908 Special Marine Issue (pages 1 to 260) + March 1910 Special Railway Issue (pages386 to 652 = 266 pages). Internally book in virtually as new condition. Profusely illustrated with both photographs and drawings. This is one of the best magazines covering general engineering of the period. Generally clean endpapers with neat owner inscription of frank G Vivian. The half leather spine and binding has been repaired. Bright wording of Cassier's and bands on spine in gold. March 1910 Railway Number. Frontis of George Stephenson. Pages 386 to652 inclusive. 266 pages jammed full of well illustrated chapters on railway related matters. Oil- burning locos, railway workshops, fuel supplies, mountain rack railways, strengthening railway bridges and much more. The other special issue is the Marine issue of November 1908 with a forntis of the revolutionary bow of a dreadnought "that revolutionised naval warfare". 260 pages Articles include: The design of modern warships, design of cargo steamers, naval policy of Germany,, design of fast ocean steamers, ore carriers on the Great Lakes, development of marine engines, oil burning on shipboard, naval ordinance, submarine naval warfare, etc. Hours of reading of matters marine and railway. A absolute gem. Verty good value as while making this entry I can only find one copy of the Railway number of 1910 at 65 pounds avialble in the USA and NO copies of the rare Marine Number of 1908.
